Hard disk partition
01/12/2003
Doing this without deleting some (or all) of the existing partitions isn't a normal feature of DOS, however, if you get a partitioning application (such as PowerQuest's Partition Magic) you will be able to do this.
If you're going for the DOS version (which is cheaper, but vastly more time consuming) then youˇ¦ll need to use FDISK to remove the last partition on your drive, together with as many partitions as you need to create the space you want for your new partition (so, at least two). This will destroy all of the data that exists on the deleted partition(s) so youˇ¦ll need to back all of your non-install stuff up before you start. Depending on how large your drive and partitions are, you could be looking at several hours to complete the operation.
